ISVV - RESEARCH

Teams and research priorities

From a methodological standpoint, the scientists use a wide range of cutting-edge approaches and techniques in numerous areas : agronomy, ecophysiology, microbiology, epidemiology and population studies, chemistry and biochemistry, molecular biology, cytology, biomedical analysis, statistics, etc. This research results in numerous collaborations and exchanges, especially with the industry, at the local, national and international level with the big wine producing countries, both for research and training courses.

The ISVV gathers all the personnel involved in research, teaching and technology transfer in the vine and wine areas.

First working as an Institute without wall, the ISVV will be located in 2008 in a newly built facility (7500 m2, including 4500 m2 for research and 3000 m2 for teaching). The building will be located on the INRA campus of Villenave d’Ornon, 5 kms away from Bordeaux city center.

26 millions euros were rised for the construction of the building and the scientific equipments. This programme is funded by the Conseil Régional d' Aquitaine, the European Union, the French government, INRA, the Bordeaux city district, the Conseil Général de la Gironde and the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux. This building will provide a living exchange space for all the scientists, teachers, engineers, technical staff, students, trainees, as well as an open welcome space open on the world of research and their applications.

Already before the completion of the building, the research groups from the various research institutions work together. The ISVV gathers

  • Bordeaux 1 University (Sciences & Technology)
  • Bordeaux 2 Victor Segalen University (Health & Life Sciences)
  • Bordeaux 3 Montesquieu University (Humanities)
  • Bordeaux 4 Michel de Montaigne University (Law & Economics)
  • the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA)
  • National Agricultural Engineering School of Bordeaux (ENITA)
  • Bordeaux Business School (BEM)
  • Bordeaux Ecole de Management
It is also open to the installation of new high-quality groups from France and abroad.
